Winks was built in about 1955 at Tucker Brown yard, Burnham-on-Crouch, for a Paglesham family who kept her for over 40 years. She is still owned and kept in Paglesham. She is a 10 ft open boat with a standing lug sail and two rowing positions. Construction is mahogany planking on steamed oak frames. She had a new keel, centreboard box and part of one garboard (plank next to the keel) replaced in the late '90s, and most of the ribs were replaced or sistered. The restoration was based on traditional methods, but the boat is also preserved with modern epoxy paints.
